Coffee Cupping with Eight Steps and Brewlab Coffee Roasters

Plant Folk invites you to a special community cupping session featuring two local micro roasteries, Eight Steps and Brewlab Coffee Roasters, coming together for a morning of shared tasting, learning and connection.

This session celebrates the diversity of approaches within Brunei’s growing coffee scene. Eight Steps, established in June 2025 and led by Mumtaz and Wally, brings a thoughtful and process driven perspective to roasting. Brewlab Coffee Roasters, founded in 2024 and run by a passionate team of five, explores coffee through collaboration, experimentation and curiosity. Together, they offer two distinct voices united by a shared respect for quality and community.

You will be guided through a professional coffee cupping, the same method used by roasters and buyers to evaluate coffee. We will explore aroma, flavour, acidity and texture across a line up of coffees from both roasteries, tasting side by side and discovering how different choices in sourcing and roasting shape each cup.

The session is designed to be relaxed and welcoming, whether this is your first cupping or you have attended one before. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be time to chat with both roasteries about their journeys, philosophies and what it means to build a local coffee culture together.

The cupping will take place on Sunday from 10AM to 12PM at Plant Folk.

Join us at the table and experience how coffee creates space for conversation, learning and connection.
